The Girl and the Earth

Twas the wind, that swept her off her feet
Along with its tranquil voice that sings
Twas the sun’s pulsating beams
That makes her dance and swing
Twas the streams
Skinny as a string
That taught her
Life can be as short as any other thing

Whilst I stand here
Wanting you
Needing you closer than near
I have longed for you through and through
Furthermore it’s crystal clear
Yet you leave me to shed a tear

If I was this tree
Would you love me?
Throughout fall, winter, and spring
And in the warm summer days you bring?

In the woods of dark shadows
You want me to follow
With your attention I wallow
Amidst the wind, sun, and streams
You’ve made me see
Earth’s eternal beauty
You are my inkling
To a world in which beauty gleams
I see love in ways I’ve never dreamed

Your steps stop
And me, you turn to
Rays of the sun come into view
And the wind quickly blew
Your beauty reworks to gold specs that flew
Specs that became the beauty of the earth I knew

In the bright hue
I realize you are the earth
And I love you
